EQUINE STAFF

Picture
ROSIE is a 23 year old American Quarter horse who has worked hard for us on and off the ranch. Her favorite thing is bossing cows around, but she also likes all the love and attention she gets as a Rainhorse! She is lead mare in the herd, our “go to” horse who can be depended on to do pretty much anything and to take it all in stride. She helps us let all the Rainhorses know how to have impeccable manners!
Picture
GRIFFIN Griffin is a 19 year old Missouri Fox Trotter who was rescued by two visitors to the Cody, WY area and donated to Rainhorse. He is a calm, quiet guy with a heart of gold and impresses us all with his unicorn-like looks and long, flowing tail. Griffin loves his new home and his new job of helping people!
Picture
COCO is an 17 year old Thoroughbred mare who came to Rainhorse after many careers: first a racehorse, then a sport horse, and finally a broodmare. She is named after Coco Chanel because of her long legs and elegant beauty. Coco likes to make friends on horse-time, that is, slowly. And once she is sure, she’s a loyal partner, finding the soft spot in even the toughest person
Picture
BREGO is a 16 year old American Sport Horse. Once destined for the glamorous world of Grand Prix jumping, he has found a quiet life as a Rainhorse. Elegantly groomed most of his life, when he arrived at the Oxbow, he couldn’t get enough of the mud- and was always covered from head to hoof. Brego is kind, very sensitive, and loves to have his ears scratched. Brego especially loves working with the youngest and most timid of Rainhorse clients.
Picture
EMMY is a 27 year old  American Quarter Horse, born and raised in Wyoming. Emmy bears the physical scars of a life full of abuse and neglect. Now, recovered in body and spirit, she is a wonderful example of forgiveness, and is a favorite partner for those who have also survived trauma. Emmy charms us all with her dark, soulful eyes and her quiet prescence.
Picture
FINN, or Finnegan's Flame, is a 12 year old Thoroughbred mare who never went to the racetrack. She’s a super-sensitive, sweet mare who never really found her calling. We know she’s worked as a pack horse in the mountains, and saved her owner’s life with her cool head and solid personality. Finnegan asks people to first be trustworthy and if they are, she will give them her heart.
Picture
DAYLIGHT is a 15 year old American Quarter horse who was born and raised in Wyoming. Once a determined bucking horse who no one could ride, she has found her true calling as an equine therapist. Daylight takes her job very seriously, and is a favorite in all groups. She has transformed the most fearful into confident  and we know several young people out there who have told us
“Daylight saved my life”.

 BUCKSHOT
Buckshot is a 28 year old American Quarter Horse who is retired from a long career as a working ranch horse.
He was a super smart cowhorse (and still is given the opportunity), a great roping horse, and probably knows more about the mountains than anyone. He brings his intelligence and sensitivity to his new job as a Rainhorse, and offers his big heart to many.
Picture
GENE
Gene is a 21 year old Appendix Quarter Horse, meaning he is 1/2 American Quarter Horse and 1/2 Thoroughbred. He had a successful life as a sport horse, competing in 3-day events. When he became too old to be that kind of athlete, he came to live with us at Rainhorse, and has become a champion therapy horse in his second career.
Picture
ELLE is a 19 year old Thoroughbred mare who had a long career as a racehorse. She "started" in more than 50 races and retired sound. She’s what some trainers call an “Iron Horse”- one who can take a lot of stress without breaking down. Elle is strong, but her most obvious characteristic is her kindness and her interest in people.
Picture
GANDALF is an 18 year old miniature horse, or pony, who charms everyone with his white eyelashes. He came to Rainhorse through a kind woman who rescued him from some bad conditions, and now he loves his new job working with seniors and eating as much as he can get away with!
Picture
GABBY, or Gabriella, is a 14 year old miniature horse, or pony and is Gandalf's room-mate. Gabby traveled to Wyoming with Gandalf and has been his big sister, even though she is younger. She helps Grandalf understand that the tough times are over. She is sweet and kind, although she does like to boss Gandalf around.
